Nine plants prevent diabetes

Diabetes is considered a disorder of metabolism. It is a chronic disease that has no cure but can learn to control. Diabetes is caused by lack of insulin or malfunction. It is produced by the pancreas. It is this that allows glucose (sugar) to enter cells to produce energy. When this disorder is installed, glucose does not serve as source of energy to cells. It accumulates in the blood. This then results in an increase in the level of sugar called hyperglycemia. High sugar levels in the blood can then cause damage in the eye, heart, kidney ...

Gymnema sylvestris
Hindi name of this plant translates as "sugar destroyer", and the plant is known to lower blood glucose levels. It is considered one of the most powerful plants for the control of blood glucose. Its action increases the activity of enzymes that help cells to receive glucose or stimulate insulin production. The advantage of Gymnema sylvestris is that it causes little or no side effects.



Bitter melon
Bitter melon (momordica), and aptly named, is known to help cells use glucose more efficiently and promote the absorption of sugar from the intestines. Filipino researchers have highlighted its benefits in a large study of men and women: they had to take bitter melon in capsule form for three months. Their blood sugar was lower than those who took a placebo. Beware though, taking bitter melon may cause gastrointestinal disturbances.



Prickly pear
The ripe fruit of this cactus can reduce sugar levels in the blood. This fruit lowers blood sugar levels probably because some of its components operate in the same way as insulin. The fruit is also rich in fiber.



Blueberry
This blueberry parent contains powerful antioxidants in the fruit and leaves. These anti -oxydants, called anthocyanins, which give color to red fruits, appears to reduce the damage caused by the small vessels that can cause nerve pain and retinopathy (damage to the retina of the eye).
Other international studies have suggested that bilberry helps to lower blood sugar.



Gingeng

In one of the largest studies on fenugreek, 60 people who took 25 grams per day of fenugreek showed significant improvements in glycemic control and post-meal spikes.



Chamomile and chamomile tea
It has been shown that drinking tea with chamomile allowed for lowering blood sugar and thus prevent the progression of type 2 diabetes and prevent some of the damage associated with high levels of sugar in the blood.
Drink chamomile tea before or after a meal can help you control your sugar levels in the blood.



Tulsi tea leaves - holy basil tea
The tulsi, also known as holy basil, basil is a species close to our basil used in Western cooking. It is traditionally used in India for its powerful medicinal properties, especially for treating type 2 diabetes Tulsi helps lower blood sugar, like chamomile, and reduce stress and anxiety and to protect the body against damage caused by stress.



Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a common spice and whose flavor is appreciated. It has shown considerable efficacy in lowering blood sugar. If you have or are at risk for type 2 diabetes, or if you want to moderate your blood sugar levels for other reasons, such as excessive consumption of sugar, it can not hurt you to include cinnamon in your dishes, desserts ... You can also dip a stick of cinnamon in your tea, or use it in powder form. Be sure to use pure cinnamon and no cinnamon sugar, if you obviously do not want to add sugar to your diet. Cinnamon is a naturally sweet spice, even if it does not contain sugar!
